As this crisis continues, I undertand that the MTA is cutting student bus passes because of the fact that this private government-funded company is in a deficit and need more money. However, I don't think that they should resort to cutting student passes for a few reasons. One reason is because parents on the receiving end will feel the pinch especially families that are struggling to make ends meet. Also, the only way around it is getting parents to drive you to school, or transferring to your zone schools which is stressful for busy parents; also some children travel to far schools becauise their zone schools are not good, and if you transfer to zone schools, colleges will look at you last for certain scholarships which can hurt us coming up into the future. I hope that before 2011 the economy boosts as well as MTA money, so they don't ban MTA student passes and we as students and parents don't feet the pinch.
